Antony Starr is perhaps best known for his role as Homelander in the hit amazon prime series The Boys. The boys released their fourth season this past summer on June 4th and has been received very well among the fans and the critics. In fact, all four seasons have been reviewed incredibly well and I can speak from personal experience as I sincerely enjoy the show. The Boys is set to release their final season sometimes in the summer of 2025. Antony Starr plays the main villain and has been an integral part of the show from its first episode up until now. With that Antony Starr has also given some of the best performances put to screen during his time on the show and has yet to even be considered for an Emmy. Even though I, and many would agree he should have won multiple by now.
In my opinion, Antony Starr gives the best villain performance since Heath Ledgers joker in The Dark Knight. He plays a psychotic superhero all too well to the point where whenever he is on screen you can’t look away. Fans are on the edge of their seats and know something crazy is going to happen every time Homelander shows up. I think some of his best acting is in season four which t means a lot because he does a fantastic job in every season thus far. The way he is able to use his facial expressions and emotions to convey the psychotic ideology of this character is nothing short of remarkable. A performance more that worthy of multiple Emmy wins. The fact that he has not seen even a nomination is a disgrace to his talent. Very rarely do you see a community unanimously say that a performance is Emmy worthy and then it not even be nominated.
With season 5 coming, it looks like Antony Starr has one more chance to get that Emmy nomination and win. Maybe the academy will finally be able to recognize the masterful performance after all these years. If he does not get a nomination for this last season, it will definitely be seen as one of the biggest award robberies of all time.
